Making the Most of Being Single

*This sermon was presented by a young, single Christian woman actively pursuing her first love [Jesus] as she waits for the lover God predestined her to have 🙂

Sidenote: All scriptures are in Today’s New International Version [TNIV]

“Making the Most of Being Single”

Glorify God in this stage!
Psalm 42:5-11 :: 5 Why, my soul, are you downcast? Why so disturbed within me? Put your hope in God, for I will yet praise him, my Savior and my God.6 My soul is downcast within me; therefore I will remember you from the land of the Jordan, the heights of Hermon—from Mount Mizar. 7 Deep calls to deep in the roar of your waterfalls; all your waves and breakers have swept over me.8 By day the LORD directs his love, at night his song is with me— a prayer to the God of my life.9 I say to God my Rock, “Why have you forgotten me? Why must I go about mourning, oppressed by the enemy?” 10 My bones suffer mortal agony as my foes taunt me,
saying to me all day long, “Where is your God?”11 Why, my soul, are you downcast? Why so disturbed within me? Put your hope in God, for I will yet praise him, my Savior and my God.
Don’t focus on what you don’t have. That’s a trap! Satan made Eve focus on the [[ONE]] fruit she didn’t have.

Ecclesiastes 3:1 ::  1 There is a time for everything, and a season for every activity under the heavens.

God IS moving on your behalf…remember, He is not on our time
IMPORTANT: The right thing at the Wrong time is still the Wrong thing!

Stop whining and just be content in your time and in your season.

Blossom in the season you are in.

Spend time in the Word of God [Bible] and in prayer.

 Develop your relationship with God.

Isaiah 54:45 :: 4 “Do not be afraid; you will not be put to shame. Do not fear disgrace; you will not be humiliated. You will forget the shame of your youth and remember no more the reproach of your widowhood. 5 For your Maker is your husband— the LORD Almighty is his name— the Holy One of Israel is your Redeemer; he is called the God of all the earth.

Isaiah 62:5 :: 5 As a young man marries a young woman, so will your Builder marry you; as a bridegroom rejoices over his bride,
so will your God rejoice over you.
Fact :: We ALL have a heavenly groom reigning over everything. Furthermore, a mate can not complete you, only Jesus can. See, you are never alone because He loves us and is with us. Praise God in good times and in bad times because marriage will not always be happy times.

Ruth 2:1-6 ::  1Now Naomi had a relative on her husband’s side, a man of standing from the clan of Elimelek, whose name was Boaz. 2And Ruth the Moabite said to Naomi, “Let me go to the fields and pick up the leftover grain behind anyone in whose eyes I find favor.” Naomi said to her, “Go ahead, my daughter.” 3So she went out, entered a field and began to glean behind the harvesters. As it turned out, she found herself working in a field belonging to Boaz, who was from the clan of Elimelek. 4Just then Boaz arrived from Bethlehem and greeted the harvesters, “The LORD be with you!” “The LORD bless you!” they answered.5Boaz asked the overseer of his harvesters, “Who does that young woman belong to?” 6 The overseer replied, “She is the Moabite who came back from Moab with Naomi.

==> Go into the mission field and work in the Harvest [ministry and salvation] Be on fire for God!!

Be a cheerful giver & have fun
Ecclesiastes 3:12-13 :: 12 I know that there is nothing better for people than to be happy and to do good while they live. 13 That each of them may eat and drink, and find satisfaction in all their toil—this is the gift of God.

Ecclesiastes 8:15 :: 15 So I commend the enjoyment of life, because there is nothing better for people under the sun than to eat and drink and be glad. Then joy will accompany them in their toil all the days of the life God has given them under the sun.

Danger Alert :: Bitterness and resentment can cloud your vision. Ruth’s mother-in-law didn’t even see the fact that Ruth wanted to stay with her even though she was not obligated to…instead she said “Call me Mara” which means bitter.
Don’t take this season for granted. There’s always a need that needs to be fulfilled so you will always have something to do. Today is the day to make things happen!

==> Discover yourself. We want to discover the other person so much but that is not what we should be doing. We need to be discovering ourselves. Develop that part of you – your gifts, talents, personalities, character traits, where you are going, and your vision. You gotta know where you are going! When you do find our mate, there should only be one vision between you guys [and wouldn’t it be nice to have a similar vision?] Remember, you don’t complete a person and they don’t complete you. It’s not all peachy! Troubles will come when you are married. When you get married, you have simply just entered a new phase of this earthly life. People hardly ever take time to prepare for the marriage, only the wedding […..wow]. When you see the person, you’ll know. Deep down.

Wisdom:: Discover your strengths and weaknesses. The best marriage is the one where the woman is strong in her man’s weakness and he is strong in hers. You wont see any trouble on the surface because they cover one another. That’s what makes a beautiful marriage!
Question to ponder: Can this person fit into my weakness?

Men –>Sshe may look gorgeous but she may not be the one for you [it’s not all about looks]…a woman wants her man to be a father, a husband, and a friend [I just shared a secret with y’all].

Happy Note:

There’s a future for everybody. So make the most of your single life because relationships and marriage is a different playing field! Do not lose hope men and women of God. He has NOT forgotten you & He sees your desires. This is your season to be the best that you can be. Remember, you are loved by the Father and precious in His eyes. He’s simply working on that person for you. Let his timing overrule yours. Easier said than done right? I know. But isn’t it worth it all in the end? 🙂
