Once upon a time, there was a very wise old man who could do anything people asked of him. If a child broke their toy, he could put it back together. If two people were in an argument, he could counsel them into an agreement. Then one day, a very unusual request was given to him. A teenager named Kimberly wanted him to help her make the world better. Well that sounds easy enough, the man thought to himself, agreeing to her request. “I can’t give you much to work with, but I can give you some paper and my favorite pen.” Kimberly handed him what she had and hurriedly left after realizing what time it was. The man sighed. This might be harder than I thought, he decided. But, he set to work on deciding how to change the world. He thought about writing letters, but decided that might not work. Then, late into the night, he came up with an idea. He quickly wrote some things down on the paper given to him, then threw them out the tallest window in his home and watched them flutter in the breeze. He smiled as he drifted off to sleep. He was awakened in the morning by loud cries of joy outside. He got up to see what the fuss was about. In the night, his papers had scattered far and wide and had hit almost every house within several blocks. He smiled as he saw people pick up the papers and look at them. Then they’d smile at each other and hug. He never did tell anyone it was him who wrote ‘you’re beautiful’ and other sentiments on those slips of paper. Sometimes the greatest world changers are anonymous.
