Dear Mr. President

Dear Mr. President,
I know you’re pretty busy running the country and all, but we have a problem.
There was a study done, and there are too many kids without food in the US. 25% of kids (17yo or younger) don’t have enough to eat.
There are 76.4 million children in the US. 25% of that would be roughly 18,325,000 children.
20 million children are in free or reduced lunch programs.
That’s a lot of kids.
As for the entire US population, here are a few more numbers:
- 1 in 6 Americans face hunger…. 20.6% of those are households with children.
- 50% of Americans struggle to put food on the table.
- Hunger in the US isn’t caused by a lack of food, but because of how common poverty is.
- 1 in 7 people are enrolled in the food stamp program, and almost half of those are children.
Every county in the US struggles with food insecurity, which means lack of reliable access to food.
You have the authority to change that.
You can do something more permanent than anyone else.
I can donate as much as I want to a local food pantry, but that doesn’t account for people who aren’t a short distance away.
You can reach so much further than any average American can dream of.
Please, do something about this.
