9/11/2001 – We Will NEVER Forget!

I remember exactly where I was on this day…

…stuck in my 6th grade classroom waiting for the bell to ring to go home. Several of my classmates parents decided to pick them up early. I figured something probably was wrong,  but then again, the stay-at-home moms just wanted some company so they signed their children out early. Little did I know – that day, the whole world would change…

Sitting on the bus with teary-eyed, scared, elementary school children, my 6th grade peers and I decided to take charge and become the big brothers and big sisters they [needed] us to become in that moment. Crazy thing about kids: their ability to perceive danger and weary situations is truly remarkable. They did not know what was going on around them but they did sense that something was not right. While we were calming the nerves of children on the bus, terrorists flew into the buildings of the Twin Towers, the Pentagon, and tried heading for the White House. Had we known that nuggest of information, I’m sure us 6th graders would need some serious reassuring as well. God works in mysterious ways sometimes. The seemingly unrealistic images on the television, the bloody murder screams of families terrified for their lives, and the helpless scared victims left with no choice but to leap for their deaths, have forever been imprinted in my mind…..*as well as the minds of millions worldwide*

:: Today marks the 10th anniversay of the 9/11 Attacks. Voice4Society is committed to advocating on behalf of the community and the youth. Well, today, we remember what the word “community” truly means and the feeling that it evokes. A sense of unity, love, understanding, committment, and “togetherness” are all wrapped up in that one word. Each aspect of that one word is what happened on that day, after that day, and today. Voice4Society honors the fallen, the victims on plane, the victims on foot, and the victims through their jobs as a firefighter, policeman, or simply a volunteer trying to help. We do not only pay homage to those who have died as a result of the attacks but those who are living now – suffering with lung cancer, asbestos poisoning, and every other illness they were unfairly plagued with. God bless them and God bless America. We know that as hard as it is, there are angels watching over making sure that their lives will never be in vain. Voice4Society applauds your efforts, your time, your patience, your help, and the life that you risked, the life that you lost, the life you know that was taken away in an undeserving manner, and the life you know that will forever suffer. We salute you. We honor you. YOU ARE AMERICA.

For The Brave Americans We Love

We leave you with these closing thoughts and words of love as you reflect on the type of person 9/11 has changed you to become:

… … Our deepest respects, love, and prayers go out to those affected by 9/11. Today marks the 10th anniversary of this tragic event. We will never forget what this day means to mankind. To the NYPD, NYFD, clergymen, volunteers, who risked their lives so that others could be saved – THANKYOU. You ARE the definition of patriotism and heroism. VOICE4SOCIETY salutes you today, tomorrow, and forever. Congratulations on being angels sent for “just a time as this” ♥

… … May the peace&&love of God overwhelm the families that were affected by 9/11. Today, 10 years later we remember that tragedy but instead of dwelling on the pain, we instead celebrate the lives of the victims&&heroes. May your spirits live on NYPD and NYFD. Today we honor you. and we remember just how far these families have come in the healing process. Congratulations 🙂
