–> The More Than a Girl Sweepstakes, is aimed at giving girls and young women a voice and an opportunity to learn and share diverse ideas about female empowerment. It is free to enter and open to all US residents ages 13 and older. The sweepstakes prizes are copies of the book, I Am More Than Just a Girl, which covers topics such as self defense, stress management, sexual assault, domestic violence, women’s rights, education, individualism, community involvement, and body image. To enter the sweepstakes, girls and women leave a comment at the website, MoreThanaGirl.Webs.com, about what it means or how it feels to be empowered. For every 50 comments, a winner will be randomly chosen to receive a free book. Even though not everyone who enters will win a copy, everyone can read the entire book for free on Bookemon.com. This is not a self help book, but a resource guide filled with information that every girl over the age of 13 needs to know. I created this book after working at a resource center for domestic violence and sexual assault. I saw how women and girls don’t have access to information and what little we are given is not useful for real life and usually accompanied by advertisements. I am a certified self defense instructor and my background also includes work in the areas of foster youth, homeless youth and various community programs.
